Now that I have a new Autel BMW Smart Key, I would like to show you how to generate BMW keys using Autel MaxiIM IM508 + XP400 Pro Programmer. This will work with most 5 Series from 2009 onwards or 3 Series from 2013 onwards. Other models have older keys and are due to be upgraded.

I programmed this key into a 2014 BMW 550i and it worked correctly with no issues. All buttons are fine. No need to adjust anything.

Steps

1. Generate Key

Programmer >> Accept >> Universal Key

This function only supports XP400/ XP401/ XP400 PRO/ XP401 PRO.

Connect them. Press "OK".

This is what the remote looks like, and Autel IKEY is what the new remote looks like. It works just like the factory one.

Insert the key into the XP400 Pro key slot,

press "Generate Universal Key".

Getting universal key information. Please wait...

The button type of the universal key is not compatible with your car model.

Forced generation may cause abnormal or lost function of the button.

Press "Continue Generation" to continue.

The green light on the XP400 Pro is flashing, which means it is creating the key now...

Wait until it reaches 100%.

Done.

2. Key detection

Let's detect the important information:

Universal key information detection >> detection

Here you can check the series number, key ID, BOOT version, IMMO version, etc.

3. Button adjustment

Enter "Adjust button".

If the button is not correct like lock/unlock, you can adjust and move it. Then it will work correctly. Change the number, the button will be changed. After you change the button to any correct button, press "Confirm write".

Okay, now you can use BMW key. You can also generate it with Autel KM100 Key Programmer.
