The Eufy 11S robot vacuum is one of the most affordable self-emptying vacuums available that are available. It ably sucked up dry oats from hard floors and carpets with a low pile during our tests. Its dust bin is open and empty easily, making it more convenient to use than other models at its price.

It recharges at the base and then resumes cleaning when ready. However, its obstacle-avoidance technology gets caught in socks and cords and it can't go under low thresholds.

1. iRobot Roomba 11S

The 11S is one of the cheapest self empty robot vacuum and mop-emptying robots and a lot of people seem to adore it. It is great at maneuvering under furniture and appears to be a good option for people with hard floors or who wish to perform light daily cleaning. Its suction is weaker than our top picks, but it's still able to do the job. It has a big dust bin and a long-lasting battery. The app allows you to schedule your daily cleaning or choose a specific room. You can also mark your home to allow the device to avoid areas you don't want it to visit.

The app is easy to use and has a clean layout. It doesn't have any advanced features, but it's straightforward enough to use and allows you to track the status of your robot. It also includes an informative tutorial that can help you understand the basics.

The pattern of cleaning doesn't always look like logical - at times it is straight lines, and other times, it is able to find the edges of a room - but Bounce Navigation ensures your entire floor is cleaned. It's not the greatest at negotiating obstacles though. It was unable to climb over our piano pedals and pet food bowls, and ended up getting tangled up in our 2.25-inch shag rug multiple times.

We believe there are better robot vacuums than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba 694 is stronger and is easier to maintain. It also has lower recurring costs and takes less time to charge. It also has a larger dustbin and performs better on all surfaces, and it can overcome low-lying obstructions (like electrical cords) more easily.

The eufy RoboVac11S is another alternative for regular vacuuming. It has a very similar design to our top choice and is good at picking up smaller and fine dust from hard floors. It also does a great job on medium- and low-pile carpet. It has a large dirt storage container and uses BoostIQ for automatic suction power adjustment. It also comes with an adjustable remote that is easy to operate and you can schedule daily cleaning routines with the app. Its battery lasts about an hour and the dustbin is able to be emptied without removing it from the dock.

2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great robot with an array of amazing automation features. It comes in three options including the standard S7, the S7 MaxV Plus and the S7 MaxV Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only model with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its original location and empty the debris it has collected in a dust bag or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank and wash its mopping pads.

The S7's sensors work to avoid obstacles and clean floors. It can recognize flooring types, save the map of rooms and zones and even detect dirt levels. It also has the ability to plan and execute spot cleaning sessions. It was able to perform well in our standard tests, but it didn't exactly match the Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep clean test.

You can program the S7 with the companion app to run a cleaning cycle according to your schedule. You can select a cleaning mode, such as eco or automatic, as well as a weekday, day, or time. You can also decide whether the robot should stop if it runs out of power or encounters an obstacle.

You can still use the S7 even if you don't own an Android phone by connecting an charging dock to the remote control. The controls on the remote are a little confusing initially, but once you get the hang of them they work well. The power button functions as the general 'Clean' function and the 'Spot Clean' button directs the robot to clean the area around it. The "Spot Clean" button activates the child lock.

In addition to the new mapping capabilities, Roborock improved its mobile app by adding live view that lets you observe what the S7 is up to at home. You can enable this by pressing a particular sequence of buttons on the S7 and then creating an unlock code within the app to use any time you wish to see what the robot is doing.

3. Shark IQ SX

Shark's robot vacuums aren't as a hit as those from iRobot or Roborock. But our tests have shown that this model is among the most effective self empty robot vacuum and mop-emptying vacuums available. It is simple to set up, has an enormous bin that's easy to empty (albeit a bit loudly) into a trash can when full and is easily programmed to complete a whole-home clean on a regular basis or when required.

The IQ XL can connect to your home WiFi that allows you to monitor it through the Shark app and view its battery status as it cleans. The app lets you program cleaning schedules, get push notifications about its status as well as the ability to pause and resume cleaning, or set it to a single room. It can also be controlled with voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will tell you the power mode it's currently in, namely Eco, Normal, or Max. However, we couldn't determine that any of the modes had a significant impact to cleaning performance.

After it has completed cleaning, the IQ XL automatically empties the dustbin into its base, which then automatically emptys itself. The bin can hold up to 60 days of debris, meaning it won't be required to empty it more than once, unless your pets have hair that is long. If you have to empty it you can simply take the side container off, hold it over the trash can, and then press the button.

The Shark IQ XL is a good vacuum cleaner. It does a great job of cleaning bare floors and it can maneuver itself well. However it's not the best robot vacuum cleaner self emptying choice for carpeted floors. Shark IQ XL feels a little less solidly built than the Roomba 694. It is able to remove many messes on bare floors and does a good job of maneuvering itself however it isn't close to matching the iRobot Roomba i7 in regards to performance on carpeted floors. The i7 also feels more robust, more durable and requires less maintenance. It has lower recurring costs, charges faster and has comparable battery performance. It also comes with more advanced features for automation, like areas that are not accessible and the ability to select specific rooms to be cleaned.

iRobot J7+

This robot self emptying vacuum vac/mop combination is a rare find, because it can do both tasks extremely well. iRobot Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts and features similar to its j7 counterpart including LiDAR map and self emptying robot vacuum mop-emptying. It also comes with additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The new acoustic sensors help the j7+ recognize flooring types, meaning it can decide between mopping and vacuuming when it first enters a room. It also uses this info to prioritize cleaning rooms with carpet and rugs over those with hard floors.

The J7+ is more quiet than the majority of robotic vacuums when it's running and even more quiet when it's mopping. Its maximum reading on our decibel meter was 64db which is similar to the noise of general office chatter.

You can easily create an cleaning schedule and then change the way that dust is cleaned when the canister gets full. The j7+ can be controlled with voice assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) to make it hands-free. Additionally, the app lets you create and look at maps of your home.

The j7+ performed well in our tests on carpeted and hard flooring, and was able to remove all the dirt we threw at it. It isn't able to deal with pet hair, large particles and sand. However, it is able to clean them with a little more effort. It has excellent navigational capabilities and two cliff sensors that stop it from falling down the stairs or getting caught on furniture legs.

We did discover a few minor niggles with the j7+, mainly that it can get caught on cords and rugs, and that it doesn't always switch off its mopping when it's done vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent product that ticks all the right boxes.

The j7+ from iRobot also has one of the best self-emptying systems we've seen. It drops its 14oz/0.4-liter dust container into the base station, where it automatically emptys for you. This reduces the amount of trash you need to dispose of and you'll only need to replace the dust bag from the dock around every 60 days or so, depending on how often you use the j7+.
