WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item Level Upgrade is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade item your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade item level when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's Best item upgrade to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
